L’HIRONDELLE RESTAURANT

The sun had not long dipped beyond the horizon to the west across the Mediterranean. The sunset had been magnificent, leaving a luminous reflecting light on the sea.

Devereaux and Hannah sat on the terrace of the L’Hirondelle restaurant in the Hôtel de Paris, and without a doubt, the restaurant offered one of the most spectacular and beautiful panoramic views of Monaco.

Devereaux swirled his glass of Guigal Châteauneuf-Du- Pape, the colour of the wine clinging gently to the side of the glass. ‘You chose a beautiful wine. I haven’t had this before, but I most certainly will remember it.’ Devereaux placed the glass up to his lips and took another sip.

‘It’s one of my favourites. I first had it at a function at the Australian Embassy not long after arriving in Paris. It’s a nice drop,’ she added.

‘By the way,’ said Devereaux, ‘I have to meet up with someone tonight at nine, so I’ll be gone for a couple of hours. I can tell you more after the meeting.’

‘Okay, I’ll go for a run, as it’s been a while,’ she said.

‘Well, if you do end up going for a run, how about running by the marina at Port de Cap d’Ail near the Marriott Hotel. Check out the marina and see if there are any vacant boat pens for lease – they should be sign-boarded,’ Devereaux asked. ‘It needs to be large enough for an 18-metre fishing boat.’

‘Sure, do you have something in mind?’

‘At this stage, let’s just take a look, as we may require a pen in the near future.’

Hannah nodded. She was looking forward to a run and was all too happy to keep ‘operational’.

‘If you see something, we might look at it tomorrow morning before heading back to Nice.’
